Sensitivity to temperature and soreness should dissipate over a couple of days.
During the first few days, be sure to brush and floss gently.
Tooth sensitivity to temperature (hot and cold) will soon subside.
Refrain from chewing or eating until you are no longer numb to avoid accidentally injuring your tongue or cheeks.
Follow your regular brushing and flossing routine.
Acclimating to dentures requires patience. Practice reading to others or to yourself for a couple of minutes daily to become more comfortable with your speech. This process will take some time.
Remove your dentures before you sleep and soak them in a container filled with cool water or denture cleaner.
Precisely clean your dentures before inserting them back into your mouth.
- Use the gauze pad to apply pressure on the extraction site for one-hour post-surgery.
- Place an ice pack or cold compress close to the extraction site for around 10 minutes. Take a break for a few minutes and then repeat for another 10 minutes.
- Do not consume hot beverages or foods post-extraction.
- Refrain from rinsing your mouth.
- Refrain from using a straw, rinsing your mouth, or consuming hot beverages or foods post-surgery.
- Refrain from drinking pop or any fizzy beverages.
- Refrain from brushing your teeth post-surgery.
- Pain, swelling, and bruising are expected. Use a cold compress, take your pain medication prescribed by your dentist, and follow all their instructions.
- Consume soft foods like apple sauce and soup for 2-3 days post-surgery.
- Avoid biting your cheeks, lips, or scraping your gums.
- Wait an hour after your appointment before chewing on anything. You must wait until the numbness has subsided. If you have acquired an amalgam filling, wait 24 hours before eating.
- Do not bite your lips, cheeks, or scrape your gums.
- Sensitivity to temperature will subside over the next couple of days.
- Sensitivity/soreness will subside in a few days.
- Follow your dentist’s instructions and take your prescribed medication.
- If you have just had a temporary filling placed, wait one hour after your appointment before biting into anything. After a permanent filling is placed, you can chew on the other side of your mouth.
- Brush and floss gently.
